The Brothers and Sisters of Theta Sigma Tau, in cooperation with the Theta Sigma Tau Alumni Association, are celebrating the 100th anniversary of the organization's founding with a formal Centennial Reunion Dinner at La Sure's of Oshkosh on Sunday, June 27, 2010.

All alumni of Theta Sigma Tau, the Zeta Tau chapter of Sigma Nu, social members, honorary members, and associate members are invited to attend.

  • Cocktails: The cash bar will be open from 4:30 pm until 10:30 pm.
  • Picture: At 5:45 pm, a group photograph will be taken.
  • Dinner: Served at 6:00 pm, dinner will start with a green salad. This will be followed by a buffet featuring chef carved sirloin of beef, lemon peppered chicken breast, and a vegetarian spinach stuffed ravioli. Side dishes will include baby red potatoes, fettuccini, and green beans. For dessert we will have cake and ice cream.
  • After dinner: Music spanning the decades (1950s - the present) will allow for dancing, and there will be plenty of space for mixing and meeting.

TO RSVP: Please return the RSVP card that was enclosed with your invitation along with a check to cover attendance and any additional options by May 1, 2010. Participation MUST be prepaid. If you would like to register online via PayPal (which accepts major credit cards), you can do so here: www.ThetaSigmaTau.org/centRegister.html.

RSVPs must be received by May 1, 2010 in order to ensure enough commemorative glasses are ordered (see below). Late registrations will be accepted until June 1, but those registering late are not guaranteed to receive a commemorative glass.

If you will be unable to attend, an RSVP would be appreciated. Save a stamp and email Pete Lenz '89 with your regrets: plenz@ThetaSigmaTau.org.

COMMEMORATIVE GLASSES: We arranged to have every attendee that RSVP'd by May 1 receive a commemorative old-fashioned glass (the style of the glass is at right) featuring the Centennial logo (pictured above) in silver. A champagne flute with the same logo was also available for order until May 1. We had to set May 1 as the cutoff date to give the vendor time to create and ship the glasses.

Recognizing that some members might not have been able to RSVP in time but may still be interested in getting one or more glasses, we will take orders for additional glasses at Centennial. Since this is likely to be a smaller order the cost per glass will likely increase compared to the early RSVP price. We'll also have to arrange for shipping. We'll figure something out. Contact Pete Lenz plenz@ThetaSigmaTau.org.

CENTENNIAL SCRAPBOOKS: We are working on creating a set of scrapbooks recounting the last 100 years. We will have copies at the Reunion for people to look through, and we will be able to take orders from anyone who would like one for themselves. If you have pictures, stories, or other memorabilia that might fit in with this concept, please send them to Pete Lenz '89 or Patti Beck '98

The first volumes are not available for viewing and purchasing! These are the books for the 1980s. Books for the 90s and the naughties are also being created and will be added to the linked page when they are ready. To see them, click here.

DONATION: We are collecting donations for a gift to the college in honor of our Centennial. The total amount collected before the reunion will be presented to President Joyce at the dinner. This gift to the Annual Fund will be directed toward scholarship and student aid funding for Ripon College, permitting more students to have the Ripon experience. This is, of course, optional, but it would be nice to have a substantial percentage of member participation as well as a respectable donation.

If interested, simply indicate the amount you wish to donate on your RSVP. You may make this donation anonymously if you should desire, although an anonymous donation made in this way will not be tax deductible. If you do not indicate a wish for anonymity, your name and donation amount will be passed on to the alumni office for their records. No other information will be divulged.

Even if you cannot come to the Reunion, you are invited to contribute to the gift.

You may also send donations for this gift directly to Ripon College by mail or online. To make sure this donation gets credited toward our group donation, please send it to the college by June 1, 2010 and indicate on the donation form that the donation is "In honor of Theta Sigma Tau's Centennial."

If you have already sent in your Annual Fund donation earlier this year, you can contact the college and ask that they include it "In honor of Theta Sigma Tau's Centennial." It would be nice to have all of our donating alumni counted in this donation.

WHO'S COMING? We have set up a web page for those wishing to see who has registered for the reunion. It lists all invitees and members for whom we have addresses, organized by class year. As we receive RSVPs this page will be updated. (Please note: other than members’ names and class years, no personal information will be available through this webpage.)

ALUMNI WEEKEND: This event is taking place the Sunday evening of Alumni Weekend at Ripon College. Please note that you cannot register for Alumni Weekend via our RSVP. If you are interested in Alumni Weekend activities (including housing in the dorms on Friday and Saturday nights), you MUST register via the Alumni Weekend mailer you will soon be receiving from Ripon College.

If you are planning on attending Alumni Weekend and wish to be housed in a block with other Taus and Nus, you need to indicate this in the "Special instructions" section of the RC Alumni Weekend registration form. If enough people opt for this, the college may decide to house us all in Mapes, but they will not guarantee this. If we are not housed in Mapes, those indicating the preference of staying with the Theta Sigma Tau reunion group will be housed elsewhere together.

CENTENNIAL HOUSING: Ripon College has graciously offered to allow members to stay at the dorms Sunday for the same rates that are charged during the rest of Alumni Weekend (see RSVP card). In fact, if you stay in the dorms on the Friday and/or Saturday of Alumni Weekend you may be able to stay in that same room Sunday, too. If you are NOT attending Alumni Weekend, you may still reserve space in the dorms Sunday night for the same rate as Alumni Weekenders.

Registration and payment for Sunday night in the Ripon College dorms needs to be taken care of via our Centennial RSVP. This is separate from Alumni Weekend and one cannot use the Alumni Weekend registration form to reserve a room for Sunday night.

To reiterate, regarding staying in the dorms:

  • If you wish to stay in the dorms on Friday or Saturday nights, you MUST register for this via the registration form that the college will soon be mailing.
  • If you wish to be housed in a block with other Taus and Nus on Friday and Saturday, you must indicate this on your Alumni Weekend registration packet. If you do not, you will be housed in proximity with people from similar class years.
  • If you wish to stay in the dorms on Sunday night, you MUST do this via the Centennial Reunion RSVP. This is the case whether you stay at Ripon Friday and/or Saturday or not.
