McNeil was a native of Madison, WI. At Ripon he studied economics and English and was an associate member of Theta Sigma Tau. He later lived in Eden Prairie, MN, where he worked for the Minneapolis Community Development Agency. McNeil died in 1986 at age 68 while playing racquetball.
