A family affair
John's brothers Claude and Garner also became members of Theta Sigma Tau.

In his senior year, John appeared in the 1937-38 edition of Who's Who Among Students in American Colleges and Universities in recognition of his scholarship, athletics, character, and leadership in extracurricular activities.

Edited to correct grammar and spelling
Retired Colonel John I. Pray '38 of Clearwater, FL, died June 21. During World War II as a 2nd Lt. in the US Army, John commanded an infantry unit in the Philippines and survived the Bataan Death March and more than three years as a P.O.W. He later served in Korea, then Germany and France (NATO). His decorations include the Silver Star with Oak Leaf Cluster, Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, the National Defense Server Medal, Purple Heart, Combat Infantryman's Badge and numerous awards and citations from foreign governments. Survivors include his wife, LaVerne (Wilson) Pray '40, three sons and a daughter.
