Ripon Magazine: Winter 2013
Delbert Taebel '56 of Austin, Texas, died Aug. 31, 2012. At Ripon College he studied English. He was an Army officer in the Adjutant General Corps and served round the world, lastly as Adjutant General at the 2nd Armored Division in Fort Hood, Texas. He retired from the Army Reserves in 1976. He was chief research director of the Senate's Urban Affairs Committee, and worked for the Institute of Urban Studies at the University of Texas at Arlington. He retired in 2008. He was extensively involved in public affairs and the Democratic Party, testifying in federal and state court cases. He wrote more than a dozen books and monographs and published more than 50 articles in recognized journals. Survivors include his wife, Kay, and two daughters.
