The relics of Theta Sigma Tau The Key to the House
This is the Key to the House. It has been mounted on the wall of the lounge since 1978, located above the (now blocked up) fireplace. It was made for the house by the father of Bruce Dad Davis (82). According to Bruce:
My father made that as a gift for the house. He thought that every fraternity was supposed to have a key. Since we did not have a key he made that key plaque for Tau. We used our influence with the P-men to have it installed and thus you see it has been there ever since.
If memory serves, it is all stainless steel from the GE scrap pile. Dad used some equipment that was idle at GE to cut and polish it all.
What a crying shame regarding first the blocking up and, later, the removal of the fireplaces. They were the ONLY redeeming feature of the Ripon College Reformatory Dorms. It must just SUCK there now. Besides "back in the day" we actually did need the heat to keep the lounge comfortable during the sub-zero months.
